A man busted on the Boulder Turnpike for using a dummy to ride in the HOV lanes was serving out his bizarre sentence Tuesday.

A judge sentenced Greg Pringle to spend several hours out along the Highway 36 with his mannequin, whose nickname is "Tillie," and a sign saying "The HOV lanes are not for dummies."

Westminster police arrested pringle in January with Tillie riding shotgun in the lanes which are reserved for carpools, reports KCNC-TV's Jennifer Cabala.

As part of the sentence, the judge also ordered Pringle has to sell Tillie. The money will go to the Alive At 25 program, a group that promotes safe teen driving.

"I think it's a really good program for teenage drivers, and the officers work hard for that, and I support that 100 percent," Pringle said.

Pringle said he accepts the fact that he'll have to sell his dummy, but that he'll miss his driving companion.

"Now that I'm sitting in traffic once again, I still see people driving in the HOV lane all by themselves and I wish I had Tillie back," he joked.

Pringle and Tillie were set to be out along the highway at two different shifts, from 7 to 9 a.m. and again from 2 until 4 p.m.
