Some Parents Not Too Happy With 'Tattoo' Barbie

"Totally Stylin' Tattoos" Barbie In Stores Now

MIAMI (CBS) ― A popular doll is sporting a new look that has some parents pretty upset. Mattel comes out with a new Barbie that capitalizes on the popularity of tattoos, reports CBS station WFOR-TV.

The "Totally Stylin' Tattoos" Barbie is part of the company's spring line.

She comes with a set of tattoo stickers, which can be placed anywhere on her body.

The set also has a tattoo gun that's similar to a water gun so kids can stamp washable tattoos on her clothes and themselves. The inked Barbie is not getting praise from some.

"I think it's attracting kids too young that want to expose parts of body to show off tattoos," said Jen Alcayaga.

"Maybe it's a sign of the times. Each generation is different. Elvis was evil at one time," said parent Brandon Thompson

Despite some controversy, the new tattoo Barbie seems to be a hit; it sells for about $23 and has already sold out in several stores.

Mattel says it has no plans to discontinue the doll.
