Puppy Scares Off 3 Bears In N.J.
15-Pound Cockapoo Confronts Mother Bear, 2 Cubs In Owner's Back Yard
WYCKOFF, N.J. (CBS) ―
One little dog's bark was much worse than his bite, but it was enough to scare off a trio of bears from a New Jersey backyard.
An 8-month-old cockapoo named Pawlee spotted a mother bear and two cubs in the backyard of his home in Wyckoff.
Channeling all his canine courage, he charged right at the bears who wanted no part of the
pumped up pup.
"He ran up to them and started barking his head off. I thought he was gonna wake up the whole neighborhood."
The Osiason family feared for his safety. "I thought the dog was gonna get eaten by the bears," Mrs. Osiason said.
Pawlee scared the two cubs literally up nearby trees, as well as kept the mother bear at bay.
Eventually, the bears in the backyard took off harmlessly into the woods. They were not to be heard from again.
