Cops: Teen Posed As Teacher On MySpace
FARMINGTON, Conn. (CBS/AP) ―
Police have arrested a 13-year-old Farmington girl, accusing her of creating an Internet account in the name of a public school teacher.
Police said the girl has been charged with criminal impersonation for posting a Myspace.com Internet message board account in the name of the teacher without the teacher's knowledge.
"The girl had created the account in the teacher's name and it included fictitious comments in the teacher's profile that were inappropriate," Sgt. Daniel Devine said Tuesday. "It also included comments about particular students."
Police said the girl's activities were uncovered when other students asked the teacher about postings on the Web site.
Devine said the teacher whose name was used was concerned that other teachers and students would presume that the site was indeed his and post personal information presuming he would keep it confidential.
The girl has been referred to juvenile authorities because of her age.
