Couple Finds Lottery Ticket In Contentious Couch

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS) ― A married couple's fight over a living room chair turned into a celebration when they discovered the true value inside their furniture: $250,000.

Jim and Candy Tyree have differing views on their living room easy chair. Jim thinks it's comfortable, and Candy wants it gone. To hurry the chair out of the door, Candy decided to clean out its pockets.

"There was the [lottery] ticket," she said. "I thought it was an old one, so I put it in the garbage."

Jim came home from work, sat down in the chair, and noticed something missing. "I yelled at her, where's your lottery ticket?"

Candy fished it out of the trash, and they checked the numbers online. Five Mega Millions numbers matched the winning numbers.

"I just walked over and grabbed her by the face," Jim said.

Most people may have a quarter in their couch, but that ticket was worth a quarter million. "$249,050," Jim said.

Jim's son caught their joyous reaction on tape, showing the wild celebration over the winnings. "You want some bling bling for your little neck?" Jim asked his black Labrador dog.

Candy and Jim are still fighting, but not over the money.

"(The chair) is pretty comfortable," Jim said.

"No, I still want to get rid of it," Candy said.

All that's left in the chair is a penny, but the Tyrees aren't worried -- they've got 25 million pennies to spare.
