Here's something you don't see every day: an SUV on the roof of a NYC building. Only this vehicle fell three stories to get there.
CBS
It is an only-in-New York story.
A Mercedes SUV went flying out of a sixth-floor window inside a Greenwich Village parking garage on Monday afternoon.
The vehicle was being moved inside the Hertz rental car garage on East 13th Street when people heard a crash. The SUV went out the window and landed on the roof of a neighboring building.
It was a very strange sight for the people who saw it. The driver was still inside when it landed.
"It was in a parking garage. The guy backed out
through the wall and onto the second story," one witness said. "We heard only a crash.
"By the time I saw it the driver had gotten out of the car and had walked about 20 feet."
Added another witness: "There's a big gaping hole, the size of the windows that were up there 15 feet by 12-15 feet. [It fell] three stories."
The driver was apparently walking and talking immediately after the crash, although he's been taken to a hospital and is under observation. It is believed his injuries are not life-threatening.
