Mating Wild Turkeys Attack Massachusetts Town
BROOKLINE (CBS) ―
Have you ever had one of those nights when you can't sleep and you spend it flipping through channels watching whatever airs in the wee hours of the morning?
If so, then chances are you probably came across the old show "When Animals Attack."
In Brookline, Mass., they're living out that script right now, reports CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston.
According to the Brookline Tab, the town's police department is dealing with an influx of calls regarding aggressive turkeys.
Apparently one of the reasons for this is that this time of year also happens to be turkey mating season.
The newspaper reports that apparently even an animal control officer has become a victim of the amorous turkeys.
The officer was called to investigate a report of wild turkeys. He found two male turkeys and they attacked him, injuring his leg.
Later, officials learned a resident had been feeding the turkeys, something Brookline Police are warning against. Experts say if the turkeys have no food they will move on.
Residents have also been warned not to leave young children unattended near the wild turkeys.
