CBS 2 VIEWERS SALUTE CREW ABOARD FLIGHT 1549:
You have raised our spirits in a time when this country needs it so badly. You are a true American hero. We have so few of them anymore. Thank you.
-Kay Hannigan, North Salem, NY
Captain Sullenberger, I have followed this story closely, and am so incredibly thankful that you were able to save flight 1549. As much as I admire your flying skills and calm, composed demeanor during a heart-pounding emergency, I admire your incomparable leadership, selflessness, and compassion at a time when most people would be thinking about themselves even more. Landing a plane safely in the water when there are no other options was an amazing technical feat. Making doubly sure that all passengers are off that plane before you exit yourself, giving money and assistance to the off duty airline stewardess who lost her wallet without a second thought, and modestly downplaying your role in the event as you simultaneously praise others... these are what I consider to be the truly heroic actions. To paraphrase your own words, thank you seems incredibly inadequate. God bless you and your family.
-Jon Lindberg, Knoxville, NY
Captain Sully, you inspire me to do the absolute best that I can. You have my utmost respect. I salute you, Sir!!!

-Jack Adams, South Amboy, NJ
Capt. Congrats on a job well done. I wasn't there but when I hear the recordings of you telling the controller 'We'll be in the Hudson' I actually get a tears in my eyes. Just the thought that this could have been your final words tears me up. It's almost like we were all right there with you. A true HERO you are. If nothing else you have secured your place in Heaven.
-AA, Piscataway, NJ

I have always respected aviators for their calmness in bad situations and you are a perfect example of that. Amazing job. After 911 I said that I would never fly again but if I can get on one of your flights, I will go anywhere you are going!!
-Ed Nell, Kosciusko, MS
I salute you, Captain Sully, for your heroism. The bird wings in your engines caused disaster on that day however, the angel wings on your shoulders proved to be a much stronger force. If we look at the definition of hero in the dictionary we should see your name. Your actions show that you are a man of great integrity and honor. God bless you sir.
-Susan Ozment, Fishers, IN
I just have a quick message, If there was a man of the year, on 2009 it would be Sully!!! Congratulations...
-Willie Morales, San Juan, PR
I certainly salute you. What you did was beyond remarkable, and there is definitely something to be said for experience. You, obviously, didn't have a moment's notice as to what you were going to do; you just did it. If it had been someone far younger, the story would have had a tragic ending, of that I'm positive.
-Cynthia B. Odell, Bronxville, NY
May the Lord be with you always. Thanks a million for saving the lives of all those people...you are blessed. I will be thinking of you each time I fly.
-Sandery Spencer-Carless, Bronx, NY
Sully is another word for Hero.
-Patricia Sprofera, East Elmhurst, NY
Finally...a true hero that we can hold up to our kids as the kind of person we hope they will become. Unlike druggie sports and entertainment lowlifes, Captain Sullenberger works hard, prepares unstintingly, has always been a man of honor and continually shares the credit with his crew, the flight officer in the tower and the wonderful rescuers in the NY harbor. God bless them all.
-Carolyn Leloia, Morristown, NJ
Hey Sully, I have to say I don't fly much, but it's heroes like you that make people like me feel safe. I have only traveled twice in my 29 years of life, but when I do fly again, I will feel much safer knowing that you are still flying out there and that one day you will be the one in the cockpit. You are a true hero and please continue to be so humble. It's people like you that I love to have in my life. You are definitely someone special. Thank you, and even though I didn't have any family in Flight 1549, I was happy they were all safe, including you. Thanks again, my love to you and your family.
-Kenia Rodriguez, Howard Beach, NY
