Hartford Police Officers Accused In Beating
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) ―
Hartford police have launched an internal affairs investigation into the alleged beating of a prisoner in the police station booking area by two officers.
The Hartford Courant reports that the two officers have been suspended while officials look into the Nov. 1 incident, which was recorded by the police department's video monitoring system.
A police lieutenant who was in charge of the booking area at the time is also under investigation and has been suspended, but is not accused of taking part in the beating.
Police Chief Daryl Roberts refused to release the names of the three officers and the suspect.
The Courant reports that the officers beat the prisoner at about 2:30 a.m. after the suspect struck one of the officers.
