NJ Towns Get Supply Of H1N1 Vaccine, No Syringes

RAHWAY, N.J. (AP) ― Five northern New Jersey communities that received swine flu vaccine over the weekend didn't get enough syringes.

The vaccine arrived in time for clinics held in Rahway, Scotch Plains, Berkeley Heights, Hillside and Winfield.

Health officials say they "ransacked the county supply" of syringes and bought some from a drug store.

The scrambling worked. More than 7,000 people were vaccinated in three days at clinics in Union and Sussex Counties.

The state health department says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control sent the vaccine from one warehouse and the syringes from another. The shipments didn't arrive at the same time.
