Tips To Turn Tired Eyes Into Bright Ones

NEW YORK (CBS) ― For anyone who burns the candle at both ends, looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the morning can be a challenge. But with some helpful advice and the right technique, even the most sleep-deprived among us can achieve a wide-awake look.

Take the magic of makeup, draw on a few tips from a pro, and pencil in some common sense advice, and you too can have bright beautiful eyes. CBS 2 found some magic in a pro who offered us great advice, Makeup expert Mally Roncal.

"The first thing we're going to do is start with our concealer, because concealer is our best friend, especially when it comes to really opening up the eye," she said.

In addition to putting it under the eye, Mally says don't forget concealer by the bridge of the nose and the outside corners of the eye. "That's going to give you an instant mini facelift and make you think you had eight hours of sleep," she says. "I always say to take your ring fingers and really smush it on underneath there."

A brightening powder will set the concealer and really open up the eye.

"Another great tip is that you really want to lift that eye. You don't want to wear a ton of eye makeup cause always make us look a little more tired," she says.

A soft shadow is best to keep things light. A darker shade in the crease will open up your eye. And don't forget to blend.

"It's very important you want no harsh lines and immediately you'll see how the eye looks lifted and awake," she says.

A great pro trick to wake up tired-looking eyes is to use a pencil or shadow with light reflecting pigments.

"This is like eight hours of sleep in a pen," Mally says. "What you're going to do is take that and out it right on the inner corner of the eyes."

This brightens the whites, and the color of the eye

To finish off the look, add some color to the apple of the cheeks, and a soft shimmer on the lips. Fill in the brows for a polished look.

"Once you get it down and you know how to do it it's fast and it's easy," she adds.

One more idea: try using a white pencil on the rim of the lower lid, and don't forget about some color on lips and cheeks too. For more tricks from Mally, click here
