For just a moment, forget about RBIs and ERAs.
For some there's a bigger issue about this "Turnpike Series," like which team scores in sex appeal.
CBS 2 HD has those bases covered. We went to Times Square on Wednesday night prior to Game 1 between the Yankees and Phillies to talk to the ladies about their favorite Series studs.
The boys of summer are steaming up October nights in New York. And as the Yankees take on the Phillies in the World Series fans are weighing in on the heavy hitting heartthrobs.
But in the Big Apple, there's no question who comes out on top.
"A-Rod. A-Rod is my favorite. I don't know he just always will be," one woman said.
"Definitely, Derek Jeter," added another.
It was more of the same as CBS 2 maneuvered its way through the crowds.
"A-ROD!"
"Jeter is hot, but he knows it
so he's ugly in my eyes."
When it comes to the World Series of sexiness, the Yankees have already won.
Dawn Yanek of Life and Style Weekly said there clearly is no competition.
"I don't really know the Phillies all that well," she said.
The Phillies have Cole Hamel, who kind of looks like a model. They have Chase Utley. They have Ryan Howard. But really they're nothing when you compare them to the boys in pinstripes. Everybody knows A-Rod. Everybody knows Nick Swisher, and, of course, everybody knows and loves Jeter.
"I think Derek Jeter by far is the hottest baseball player in the world. A-Rod comes in second, but they're my Yankees so I love 'em anyway," said fan Alexa Starr.
Even one Phillies fan couldn't hide her feelings about a certain Bronx bomber.
"A-Rod's hot," she said, later adding after being reminded that she roots for the enemy, "Yeah, but I still think he's hot."
Added another fan: "Jayson Werth. Maybe if he smiled a little more and didn't look so miserable that he's on the Phillies maybe he'd look a little better, but A-Rod and Jeter
they have my heart."
