The celebrations didn't end Thursday night.
Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte and MVP Hideki Matsui appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
Walking in with the confidence and pride of the most decorated team in baseball history, Yankees captain Jeter, lefty pitcher Pettitte and catcher Posada commanded the stage at the Ed Sullivan Theatre and quickly won over the crowd and Letterman.
Letterman: "I don't mean any disrespect, but how hung over are you guys?"
Jeter: "Probably not as bad as you."
The three members of the "Core 4," minus closer Mariano Rivera, have shared five World Series Championships with the Yankees.
They said Wednesday night's 7-3 Game 6 victory over Philadelphia at the new Yankee Stadium was special.
"You set out to do something at spring training as a team and to be able to accomplish it is just a wonderful feeling," Pettitte said.
Matsui then made a surprise guest appearance with the World Series championship trophy.
While celebrating the present, Letterman touched on the team's future. Will everyone return for run at the franchise's 28th world title?
Letterman: "How many years can a grown man squat, seriously?"
Posada: "Ya know what? I'm tired. I'm hurting today. But I got two years left in my contract and hopefully I can be behind the plate."
Then for Jeter, a question for the ladies.
Letterman: "Are you engaged? Are people saying you're engaged?"
Jeter: "I heard that one. I heard I was engaged. I heard I've been engaged a few times. I've heard I've been married, kids, all kinds of stuff."
Letterman: "But are you engaged?"
Jeter: "I'm NOT engaged. How 'bout
you?"
Letterman also delivered a "Top Ten List" for the ages – "Top Ten Phillies Excuses," and stage manager Biff Henderson put together a montage of funny bits from his experiences on the field at Yankee Stadium after the Bombers won the title.
