Weather permitting, the New York Yankees' quest for their 27th World Series Championship begins Wednesday night.
The "Turnpike Series" with the Philadelphia Phillies starts in the Bronx at 7:57 p.m., but Yankees fever can already be found all over the city.
It wouldn't be a Yankees pep rally without Freddy Sez. The die hard fan from the Bronx, a long time fixture at Yankees games, is in Times Square Wednesday joining others as they cheer for the Bombers just hours before the first pitch is thrown.
Crews spent the morning setting up for the afternoon's planned pep rally. And while the rain is affecting the size of the crowd, Shirley Dollar of Brooklyn disagrees.
"Rain won't stop nobody," said Dollar. "We're New Yorkers!"
It certainly didn't stop Cori Menkes and her stepdaughter, two Yankees fans who flew in from Florida, nice and early, with a bold prediction.
"I have friends back home that are Phillies fans, and my boyfriend is a Phillies fan. I told them Yankees in five," said Menkes.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg hosted the 12:30 p.m. pep rally from Times Square.
