A second woman has died after the car they were in plunged into the icy waters of a Long Island marina earlier this week.
Divers from the Coast Guard and the Suffolk County Police Department's marine bureau responded to the Great South Bay pier on Monday after the car went into waters that feed into the Great South Bay.
Rescuers pulled the women out of the car.
But one -- Ellen Halvorsen, 66, of Bay Shore -- suffered a fatal heart attack. The other, Margrit Mueller, 68, of East Islip, died of her injuries on Friday.
Police are still investigating, but believe it was an accident. The pier is a popular destination for sightseers who park and watch boats pass on Long Island's south shore.
